Tequila Mockingbird Productions ventures into the family world under an additional production name “Agave Mockingbird” with Danielle DellaPorta’s short The Note.

The short teen drama is Danielle’s directorial debut. After years in front of the camera, Danielle wanted to collaborate with the Tequila Mockingbird team to bring to life a personal story.

When I was making The Note, I wanted to share a little bit of personal life experience and I really accomplished that. Speaking on bullying and how it takes one person to stand up to a bully makes someone feel better about themselves. - Danielle DellaPorta

The short follows best friends Carly and Taylor. When Carly receives a bullying note from Prom Queen Annabelle, she falls into a deep spiral. High school is the worst, and there’s no way out. Her best friend Taylor will confront the bullies.

The film tackles the on-going issue of bullying in high school. The film’s aim is to shine a light on it and peel away the layers. Oftentimes even the bullies themselves are victims of bullying, either at school or at home. It’s a vicious cycle, and the only way to stop it is to communicate with one another.

I hope it gives them the message of being able to stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves and that you're never truly alone, there's always someone who will be there for you.  - Danielle DellaPorta

This film was the very first in a big slate of family-oriented stories Tequila Mockingbird wants to tell.

I've had the pleasure of working with the Tequila Mockingbird production crew on a few projects, and the set experience is always amazing! They are so dedicated to the craft of film making and it truly shows in every one of their projects! They always have such a determined and upbeat personality! Who wouldn't want to work with them? - Danielle DellaPorta

However, the team didn’t quite think it appropriate to have “Tequila” associated with family-friendly project. Thus, they turned to the sugar substitute “Agave.” The team currently has a full slate of project ranging from feature films to animated tv series.

With Agave Mockingbird we want to reach young audiences and tell stories that resonate with them. This goes with our creed: no matter your ace, color, sexuality, or age, you have a voice, and your voice matters. - Cameron A. Mitchell, Tequila Mockingbird

Our stories reach and teach hearts and minds, generating conversation long after the credits roll. - Thresa Richardson, Tequila Mockingbird
