Float will have its Los Angeles premiere at the TCL Chinese 6 Theater in Hollywood as a part of the Golden State Film Festival.

The short film from Rookie Morgan, and produced as part of the Tequila Shots Anthology, will open in front of the feature film Life On The Rocks.

Emily Schlachter, Michael Schilf, and Esther Pidal star in the short drama that follows a recently deceased teenager who's chosen to stay as a ghost and experiences the aftermath and consequences of staying behind. The film also features the voice of radio personality Kyle Jellings in an animated role.

“From what originally started as a light hearted joke about ghosts floating away, evolved into a very beautiful story and it’s still evolving. For me, it was a culmination of hard work and practice in everything I’ve learned over the years to make something that I feel truly represents who I am as a filmmaker. It’s weird, it’s sad, it’s funny, it’s heartfelt, it’s me.” - Rookie Morgan, Director.

Location: 6801 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028
Time: 7:30PM

In addition to Float, the short film The Hostess , produced by Cameron A. Mitchell and directed by Rosalie Alspach, has its world premiere at the festival on Monday, February 24th at 6PM.

“I'm very excited it's going to have its premiere in the heart of Hollywood, especially at the TCL Chinese Theatre. I didn't anticipate the premiere of my first short film ever would be in a Hollywood landmark! It's a pretty special place with a lot of history. It feels like a great foot to start on.” - Rosalie Alspach, Writer / Director

The Hostess follows a restaurant staff member who reacts to an inappropriate call with a customer.

“Honestly, I really hope people connect to the humor. I also hope they walk away analyzing the character's exchange as much as I did, and still do.” - Rosalie Alspach, Writer/ Director
