Co-produced with Heart On Fire Productions and Patricia DellaPorta, The Note was filmed at the end of 2018. It follows best friends Taylor and Carly in the aftermath of Carly receiving a cruel note from school bully Annabelle, telling her she should commit suicide.

Danielle DellaPorta, Writer/Director

The film is a critical look into the issue of high school bullying, something important to star, writer, and director Danielle DellaPorta. The incident is based on real-life events from Danielle's time in high school. "I feel pretty nervous, but also excited for people to finally see my first film I wrote and directed. Being a bully victim myself...it's scary opening up about an event in my life that made me, me, even if it just part of the true story," says Danielle. "I hope it makes people want to check in on their friends and even strangers who seem alone or out of character. Like, I wish someone was my Taylor to my Carly and stood up for me and [was] there for me when I was being bullied and thinking about how I wasn't good enough to be alive."

In addition to DellaPorta, the film stars Emily Schlacter, Michelle Cella, and Mo Zahra.

DellaPorta is a frequent collaborator with Tequila Mockingbird Productions, having starred in their previous short films Azteca Dietica and Looking In. As co-director on the first and cinematographer on the second, The Note producer Rookie Morgan says," Danielle is a ball of fire and energy behind the camera, and is always able to pull off some impressive dramatic acting acrobats when the camera rolls."

They were the first people she called when she decided she wanted to create this film. "Watching Danielle come into her own as an actor and filmmaker has been a great experience. She's ridiculously talented, and it's always a blast to work with her. She was in her element on that shoot, stepping back and forth from behind the camera to direct and then back to her mark, always ready for the next thing," says producer Cameron A. Mitchell.

When asked what she plans to do next, Danielle had this to say: "I would really like to start working on the full and real story, and maybe make it into a feature film. I have a few other shorts I've been writing [in the meantime]."

Producer Thresa Richardson says, "From actress to producer to director before her 21st birthday? The world should take note: This just might be a woman on her way to great things."
